The Trailseeker has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Prologue doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

The Trailseeker has a standard Secondary Collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Prologue doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the Trailseeker. But it costs extra on the Prologue.

To deliver safety and visibility under dusty conditions the Subaru Trailseeker’s backup monitor has a standard rear washer to keep the view clear. A camera washer system is only offered on some models of the Honda Prologue.

The Trailseeker’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Prologue doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Trailseeker and the Prologue have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Subaru vehicles are more reliable than Honda vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Subaru first in overall reliability. Honda is ranked fourth.

The Trailseeker’s electric motors produces 155 more horsepower (375 vs. 220) than the Prologue’s standard electric motor. The Trailseeker’s electric motors produces 75 more horsepower (375 vs. 300) than the Prologue’s optional electric motors.

The Trailseeker has a standard locking charge port which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Prologue doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

For better stopping power the Trailseeker’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Prologue:

The Trailseeker’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Prologue are solid, not vented.

For better maneuverability, the Trailseeker’s turning circle is 2.9 feet tighter than the Prologue’s (36.7 feet vs. 39.6 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Trailseeker has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Prologue (8.5 vs. 8.1 inches), allowing the Trailseeker to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Subaru Trailseeker may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 450 to 700 pounds less than the Honda Prologue.

The Trailseeker is 5.1 inches narrower than the Prologue, making the Trailseeker easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Trailseeker’s rear seats recline. The Prologue’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Trailseeker has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Prologue with its rear seat up (31.3 vs. 25.2 cubic feet). The Trailseeker has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Prologue with its rear seat folded (74 vs. 57.7 cubic feet).

The Trailseeker’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Prologue’s (3500 vs. 1500 pounds).

Standard on the Trailseeker uses the Vehicle Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Prologue doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Subaru service is better than Honda. J.D. Power ranks Subaru third in service department satisfaction. With a 15% lower rating, Honda is ranked 7th.

The Trailseeker’s front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Prologue’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Trailseeker has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Prologue doesn’t offer headlight washers.

When the Trailseeker Limited/Touring is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Prologue’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Subaru Trailseeker has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors are only offered on the Prologue Elite.

Both the Trailseeker and the Prologue have standard heated front seats. The Trailseeker Limited/Touring also has standard heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Prologue.

The Subaru Trailseeker stands out above the Honda Prologue by offering not one, but two Qi-compatible phone chargers. This convenience helps travelers with multiple devices to keep powered up on-the-go. Wireless charging eliminates lost or cluttered charging cables and one of them provide more flexibility.

The Trailseeker Limited/Touring’s Advanced Park can parallel park by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The Prologue doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
